Privacy Policy — Mercury IT

Mercury IT LLC (مركيوري أي تي ش.ذ.م.م), an Egyptian limited liability company (tax registration no. 760-037-647, commercial registry no. 105300900226021), through its office at 155 Emtedad Ramses, Nasr City, Cairo ("Mercury IT", "we", "us"), explains in this policy how we collect, process and protect personal data when you visit mercuryit.eg, contact us, or use our services in Egypt.

We process personal data in accordance with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations (Prime Ministerial Decree No. 816 of 2025).

Data we collect

Data you give us — when you use our contact form, email or call us, message us on WhatsApp, book a meeting online, or become a client: your name, job title, company, email address, phone number and the details of your request. With a contact-form message we also receive the first page you visited and the website that sent you to us (for example a search engine), so we know how you found us. For clients, we also keep billing details and the records needed to deliver and invoice our services.

Data we process for clients — when we manage a client's systems, we may have access to that client's data (for example user accounts, devices and email). We process it only on the client's instructions and under our service agreement.

Data collected automatically — kept to the minimum needed to run the website:

No advertising or analytics cookies. We do not track you across websites or build advertising profiles. To count visits we may use cookieless, aggregate statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics): no cookies, no personal profile, and your IP address is not stored.
Preferences in your browser. Your chosen language and light/dark mode, and your approximate country (used to show the right site and currency), are stored in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to us, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Location lookup. To show the right site and currency, your browser asks a location service (geojs.io, and if unavailable ipapi.co or freeipapi.com) for the country linked to your IP address. Those services receive your IP address under their own privacy policies.
Hosting logs. Our website is hosted on Microsoft Azure, which records technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability.
Fonts and maps. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and, on the contact section, an embedded Google Map. Google receives your IP address when these load.

Purposes and legal basis

We process your data only for specific, legitimate purposes:

to answer your questions and prepare quotes (with your consent, or to take steps before a contract);
to provide, support and invoice our services (to perform our contract with you);
to keep our website and systems secure (our legitimate interest and legal obligations);
to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations;
to send you news or offers — only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not sell personal data and we do not make automated decisions about you.

We share personal data only with service providers who help us operate and who are bound to protect it — for example Microsoft (Azure hosting, Microsoft 365 email, sign-in, Microsoft Entra External ID for client-portal accounts, Azure SQL Database in Canada for client-portal records, and Microsoft Bookings for online appointments), Google (only if you choose to sign in to the client portal with Google), Resend (which delivers contact-form messages to our inbox), our accounting and payment providers, and suppliers or couriers when we order equipment for you — and with authorities when the law requires it.

Transfers outside Egypt

Our head office is in Canada and some of our providers (such as Microsoft and Google) process data in other countries. Personal data is transferred outside Egypt only in the cases and under the conditions allowed by Law No. 151 of 2020 and its Executive Regulations, including any licence or permit required from the Personal Data Protection Center and your consent where the law requires it, and only to countries that provide an adequate level of protection.

How long we keep data

Inquiries that do not become a project: up to 24 months after our last contact.
Client and billing records: for the duration of the relationship, then as long as Egyptian tax and commercial law requires.
Hosting logs: according to our hosting provider's retention settings, usually no more than 90 days.

After that, we delete or anonymize the data.

Security and breaches

We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including multi-factor authentication, encryption in transit, restricted access and staff confidentiality obligations. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Center within 72 hours and inform affected individuals as required by law.

Your rights

Under Law No. 151 of 2020 you have the right to:

know what personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy of it;
withdraw your consent at any time;
have your data corrected, updated, completed or erased;
restrict processing to a specific scope;
be informed of any breach affecting your data;
object to processing that conflicts with your fundamental rights and freedoms.

Send your request to our Data Protection Officer. We will respond within the period set by law. If you are not satisfied, you may file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Center.

Children

Our website and services are intended for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be highlighted on this page. In case of any difference between the Arabic and English versions, the Arabic version prevails.
